- Ionic Compounds are made up of 2 parts
- +Cations: Positive charge particles
- - Anions: Negative Charge particles
- When ionic compounds are dissolved in eater, the cation and anion separate from each other.
e.g) HCl → H+ + Cl-
- The process is called "Dissociation"
- When Writing dissociation equations atoms and charges must be balanced
e.g) Sodium Chloride
NaCl → (Na+) + (Cl-)
- If the volume does not change then the concentration of individual ions depends on the balanced coefficient the dissociation equation.
